Sarta dug in his pocket and passed it up. "Tony's driving. You can have mine." His head swiveled around at the sound of the shots, and he swore. "Who the fuck is that?"
"Shootin' from a motorcycle at another vehicle..." The big man growled, his ruddy face reddening a little more than before.
"Red, looks like you've got a crazy fan," Sarta shouted up. Almost to himself, he added, "Those bullets could ricochet if they missed and hit an innocent bystander. You want to be a vigilante, be a decent one."
"You mean like Red and Silver," said Tony.
"Exactly."
"Well, looks like those kids aren't the only ones we're watching out for now."
----------------------
"Creon's beard!" swore the college kid.
Brandon snarled and kept going. All three of them heard the ricochet off the wheels and the sirens blaring and the motorcycle's throaty growl--such a beautiful bike, the Hispanic noted--right before they saw the wall of police cruisers barricading the end of the adjacent street. With one car at their heels, and several in front, there was nowhere to go.
Brandon screeched to a halt.
"Come out with your hands up!" Shouted a megaphone from the barricade.
The Hispanic was breathing hard. He stopped now, because he was always the type to recover from a terrible accident fairly quickly, and it was then that the full extent of what the kid in the backseat said washed over him.
The Hispanic turned around in his seat and asked, "Creon's beard?"
The college kid's eyes glanced everywhere except him.
Brandon grabbed the garbage bag of money from the middle of the front seat and took off running.
The Hispanic's name was Carlos. It said so on the ID that dropped out of his pocket when he went to reach for his knife. Carlos shook his head at the college kid in disgust. "Crazy gringo." And then he hopped out of his car with a pistol hidden under his shirt. He did not want to run from a bunch of police carrying an assault rifle. He could always buy another rifle, but he couldn't buy another life. He tried to run off, too.
The college kid watched in stupefied horror as his fellow thieves nearly outran the police. He waited quietly in the back seat, however, for those same police to arrest him. He wasn't hopeful enough to think he could outrun all those uniforms, having not exercised like Carlos and Brandon. They probably ran away from these things all the time. Oh, why did he have to screw up so badly? He was going to get kicked out of med school for this, and then what could he do to help his sister?
That was what all this was about, really. The college kid laid down in the backseat and wept in silence.

For a moment as I took Sarta's lighter I didn't really know who to go after, the woman on the bike, or the boys, all of which were acting with no regard to public or personal safety. I snarled with a glance to the woman, I'd deal with her later. She could bet money on it.
I took off clicking open the lighter, had to be prepared, the boys didn't look much older then JR. As I ran I couldn't help but wonder how they got themselves in this mess, it wouldn't stop me from marching them right back to the police or giving them a shiner to remember me by, but still the questions were all there.
Yelling out to them wouldn't help, and the longer this played out the more dangerous it would get, I had to think of something.

I stopped my bike and looked around. I knew the women on the top of car would get after me later but I was fairly good with my gun. I looked at the women as she ran by me after the college boys. Then I parked my bike and waited for the women to get back and done with what she had to do. I did not want to interfer with a women on mission. I knew she would be pissed at me for what I did, but I had it coming. I was kicking myself as I stood by my bike waitng. I was a cop at heart and want to keep people safe. I did not want to hurt other people other then the criminals that committed crimes.

Carlos was faster than Brandon. By the time the big guy was halfway across the alley, Carlos was two steps ahead, even after Brandon had gotten the head start. The Hispanic reached the chain link fence first and scrambled over.
Brandon wasn't so lucky. He tossed over the bag, but he wasn't quick enough. Carlos picked it up and kept running.

I stopped when I saw the boy was trapped. Good thing too cause I didn't want to have to chase both of them across the city. I wouldn't catch both of them. "Yo, kid." I said moving closer my stance extremely guarded. "Wasn't too smart was it, any moment now my buddies gonna close in on that buddy of yours and its Good Night Sweetheart." He didn't look like the type to go down without a fight but I had to try. "If you come nice and easy, I'll talk Big Tony into helpin ya get a deal."

As i stood by my bike I really wanted to tackle the criminals that ran, but i stayed so that i would not interfere. I looked over at the big guy that was driving earlier then I took a quarter out of my pocket and started to flip it to keep myself were i was and busy till that women came back.

Brandon picked up a two-by-four he saw in the alley and threw it at her and then tried to climb the fence anyway. She couldn't offer him any deal he wanted. He'd been in trouble before, and no judge in Stone City would agree to let him serve any less than they could get him.
Big Tony and Sarta were joined outside the criminals' car by two other uniformed officers, one of which nodded toward the fence. One of them, a blonde woman with oddly dark eyes, said, "Atrefos, the lieutenant says the third one's yours and Riley's."
Officer Riley was already running after the Hispanic, but he would never be able to catch him on the ground. Sarta shed the large jacket his superiors encouraged him to wear and tossed it to Tony. Then he took off running.
The amazing thing that everyone present noticed at once was the two great fire-colored wings attached just under his shoulder blades. As Sarta sprinted, those two wings exploded outward and lifted him into the air.

((Sky has hereby given her permission for the powerplay seen in this post.))
I was pissed now, dogging the board I let diplomacy fly to the wind, I was now gonna teach him a lesson. I snarled grabbing the kid with both hands and yanked him off the fence. "You snot mouthed little shit!" I yelled at him moving to where he was. "All I wanted to do today was spend a little money at the arcade, maybe go to a movie, have some lunch!" I kicked him in the side, fucking punk needed to be taught. "Mother fucking punk!" I yelled kicking him again, "People could have been hurt today in the little run around you gave the police!"

Brandon stumbled back, snarled, and swung the two-by-four at her head. Regardless of whether he was dealing with the genuine Red Fox or not, he was going to smash that pretty face in if it meant a chance to get away. He wasn't going to go back to the pen. No, he couldn't.
The blow he aimed at her face was meant to knock her cold.

((I had permission from Emily to power play a bit))
I wasn't expecting the kid to be up so quickly, after all he was just some punk Bowery kid without the common sense God gave a door knob. But he did right in the side of my face, I screamed as something cut my skin, my head was slammed to the side and blood spilled with it. A nail... I thought reaching up to feel a new gash. Sonofabitch! In a rage a grabbed his little toy and yanked it from his hand and I back handed him right across the face as hard as I could. "Now see here you sack of wine! I'm only gonna ask one more time.... come to jail or go to the hospital."

I looked over at the guy that just took his coat off and saw the wings. They were amazing almost like angels wings. As I stood there I could here in the distance of some getting beat up. I would bet a bunch of money it was the women that ran by me not long ago. She looked tough and no one you would want to mess with. I would have enjoyed bring these guys in but i knew that was not my place yet. Before I spotted the chase and got carried away by being foolish with trying to stop the car the way I did. I was on my way to the police or at least trying to find it. This city was huge and a lot bigger then the city i lived in before. I hated waiting but i wanted to see these guys brought to justice.

Sarta pulled up in the air behind Carlos and planted both feet in his back as he came down. The thief yelped and went down, Sarta handcuffed him and marched him back to the others after reading him his rights.
Brandon's mother would have encouraged him to take the deal and beat him with a broom for disgracing the family, but because Brandon kept a shriveled cashew where most people kept a brain, he didn't listen. The only thing he could think of was the fact that he'd just gotten slapped. Brandon's fist lashed out at Rain's solar plexus.

On instinct I slammed his fist away and hammered at his exposed ribs in way of counter with my other hand as hard as I could. I had better things to do then brawl with some snot nosed kid, and that was a fight stopper, obviously he chose to go to the hospital. Dumb kid wasn't very smart and if he was dumb enough to get up again through that hit, wasn't my problem. I stepped back just in case and whipped blood from my cheek. Sonofabitch was lucky I didn't work him over some more for good measure.

Carlos glanced at Brandon's fell form as he passed in handcuffs. "Holy shit, you are one tough bastard."
Sarta had to agree with the sentiment. Brandon was trying to get up.
Carlos glanced back at Sarta. "You know, officer, my padre said that if you can't be smart, be tough. That crazy rooster is tough."
"Too bad you're not either."
Carlos smirked. "Whatever, man."
Sarta shoved him into the back of the cruiser next to the college kid.

I snarled watching him, if the kid hadn't been robbing a place when I had to fight him I might have had some respect for him. I spit and kicked him as hard as I could in the side of the head. My big boot across his head would stop this mother fucker for sure. "Stay down." I yelled getting all the more pissed. Danmit some people are just stupid.
